How many of you bought a lottery ticket in the last few days? I did – 2 - one on Friday afternoon and one on Sunday morning. The allure of becoming a billionaire overnight is just too hard to resist. I know I teach about this all the time, but the fantasy factor alone is worth $2. Yes, I said $2 because I only but one ticket. Why – because it is worth $2 to spend 20 or 30 minutes thinking about all the money I would give away, and some to squander on one or two pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes, and the trust for the kids and grand kids. But not in amassing lots of things to own. As we have discussed before – when you spend money on a lot of stuff, it owns you.
This week we will learn the fate of many lottery winners, the 12 things NOT to do when you win the lottery, and retirement planning - from the lottery ticket perspective.
